Get to know the G Pen Vaporizer

Using Your G Pen

A: As with most pen vaporizers, the G Pen is super easy to use. Refer to the full instructions located on the ‘User Guide’ tab, but here is a quick rundown on using the G Pen:

Charge the G Pen – This could take a few hours the first time, but subsequent charges should not take longer than 45-60 minutes.

Load the G Pen – The G-Pen ships with a crucible for solid concentrates, but many tank options are available for other concentrated liquids and aromatic blends. Loading the crucible is easily done by removing the mouthpiece, and using the included tool to apply your concentrates on top of the atomizer coil. Do not load too much, more than a sessions worth is definitely too much. Ensure the concentrate the making contact with the atomizer before you replace the mouthpiece. Make sure not to touch the coil with the tool to avoid potential damage.

Power up and draw – If the switch on the G Pen is locked, unlock by pressing the button five times. This enables the power switch and the G Pen is ready to use. Press the button and immediately begin drawing from the G Pen. Draw until you have had your fill, or the ten-second shut off turns the atomizer off.

NOTE: Many owners find that taking one more draw through a cooling G Pen (no power applied while drawing) keeps the air vents from clogging.

A: The G Pen heats up instantly. With a powerful 900mAh battery, the G Pen heats up fast, and keeps heating long past other vaporizers of this size.
A: There are no temperature settings on the G Pen. It goes from room temperature to its peak temperature in just one second.
A: First and foremost it’s vital that you use the cleanest and purest liquids and concentrates you can find. The G Pen was designed for use with liquids, or concentrates that melt cleanly and leave no particulate behind.

When this unwanted particulate makes contact with the atomizer, it can overheat and will degrade the lifespan of your cartridge exponentially.

Varying your draw rate can effect the vapor thickness. Drawing faster will allow for thinner vapors, and drawing slower can allow for thicker vapors.

Since the G Pen has only one temperature setting, its essentially foolproof. Press the button, and draw until you have your fill or until the G Pen shuts off automatically after 10 seconds.

A: The G Pen was designed solely for liquids and concentrates. It ships with a crucible/atomizer for solid concentrates, but other tanks are available.

Do not put aromatic blends into the atomizer included with the the G Pen. Grenco Science makes aromatic blend atomizers for the G Pen, please contact them for more information.

A: The charger is rated from 100v to 240v, but you might need an adapter for your outlet if outside North America. USB option is always available, negating the need for AC adapters, regardless of your location.

A: The atomizer coil is nickel/aluminum-alloy, the wick is fiberglass, the crucible that surrounds the coil is ceramic, the body is made of plastic and steel.
A: The G Pen has a nickel/aluminum-alloy atomizer coil that surrounds a fiberglass wick.
A: Liquids and concentrates love high temperatures, so you should not have an overheating issue!
A: It’s best to not fill the heating chamber full. Just apply enough for one session at a time. The G Pen was not designed to hold more than one session at a time.
A: Never, you could damage the atomizer very easily. The only thing that should ever enter the crucible is the concentrate.
A: Yes, after ten seconds of use, the G Pen will power off.

There is also a safety on the power switch, clicking it five times turns off the power button, and repeating this turns the button back on. This is great if you have the G Pen in your purse, or pocket, as it prevents it from going off accidentally and wasting your battery, or worse.

As a general safety rule, do not leave the G Pen unattended while powered on.

A: Some G Pen atomizers are rebuildable, or you could also replace them very easily by disconnecting them from the battery, and replace with a fresh atomizer/tank.
A: There are no screens in the G Pen.
A: The battery is a 900mAh barrel eGo ‘style’ battery. It has 510, and eGo threads.
A: The G Pen comes with an AC adapter/USB plug, rated from 100v to 240v. The USB plug can be used by itself in a powered USB port anywhere in the world, but if you are charging your G Pen outside of North America with the included AC adapter an outlet/plug adapter might be needed.
A: When the G Pen battery is in need of a charge, the power button will flash 8 times when pressed.

At this time, connect the G Pen battery to the G Pen Wired USB Charger (at the base of the G Pen battery). The G Pen Wired USB Charger can be connected to either the G Wall Adapter or any compatible USB port. A red LED light will illuminate at the base of the battery to indicate that a charge is being administered.

Once the red LED light turns green, the G Pen battery has been fully charged.

A: According to Grenco Science, allow 3-4 hours charging time for the first 3-4 cycles. Then, it should only take about one hour to charge, depending on your charging source. USB charging could be somewhat slower if not using the AC adapter.

Cleaning & Maintenance

A: Any concentrate that may have collected on the body of your G Pen can be removed with a warm damp cloth.

If you need to remove concentrate from inside the tank, its not advisable, but you can do so using your G Pen Tool. USE CAUTION and be extremely careful not to damage the atomizer coil.

Within the crucible of your G Pen tank, the coil works to clean itself by clearing off any residue that comes in contact with it. We don’t recommend using any type of liquid cleaning agent in the G Pen tank, as doing so could cause it to malfunction.

A: Within the actual tank of your G Pen Tank, the coil works to clean itself by clearing off any residue that comes in contact with it. We don’t recommend using any type of liquid cleaning agent in the G Pen Tank, as doing so could cause it to malfunction. If you need to remove concentrate from the tank, you can do so using your G Pen Tool, but we suggest avoiding putting any metal near the atomizer.
A: On certain parts alcohol is fine. The top cap will incur the most buildup, soaking it in alcohol or cleaning with alcohol soaked cotton swab are effective cleaning methods.

Cleaning the atomizer is not recommended, replace as needed.

Make sure you don’t expose the atomizer or battery to any liquids whatsoever. If you need to clean the outside of the G Pen, use a warm damp cloth. If the G Pen gets wet in any way, allow to dry in the sun or a warm dry area until COMPLETELY DRY. Attempting to use the G Pen if wet will cause serious damage to the unit.

A: The atomizer should be replaced as needed on the G Pen. Over time even the purest concentrates will allow buildup to collect on the Atomizer coil; removing this with a tool will damage the coil.

Atomizers will last 4-5 weeks with normal use. Your experience may vary.

Getting the Most Out of Your G Pen

  • Drawing after the heater has cooled down will allow the air vents to stay free of blockage.
  • Never leave a G Pen in a hot car. Ever.
  • Allowing the G Pen to freeze can damage the atomizer. Avoid temperatures below 40 degrees.
  • Use caution with the included G tool, as it could damage the atomizer coil if you aren’t careful.
  • Overloading more than one session’s worth of concentrate is a potential recipe for mess.

G Pen Maintenance

Cleaning the G Pen couldn’t be easier. If the atomizer coil has gotten too much buildup, replace it with a new one.

The inside of the mouthpiece will take on the most buildup, soak it in isopropyl alcohol and clean with a cottonswab.

If any concentrate has made it onto the body of the G Pen, wipe off with a warm damp cloth.

Need Assistance with your G Pen?

Try these Solutions to common issues:

A: A few things could be causing this. Is the 5-click safety lock in place? Try clicking your G Pen button five times and see if anything happens.

Are you getting any light at all from the button? If not, make sure that its charged properly. This seems obvious, until you realize the power strip you were plugged into wasn’t turned on. Or…the USB port you were plugged into wasn’t actually a powered USB port. Or…there are many reasons to think your vaporizer is charging…when it isn’t. It happens all the time.

If you have charged it fully, and unlocked the power button, and are still getting no vapors, remove the mouthpiece, press the button, and see if the atomizer is at least getting warm?

If you have no activity from a fully charged G Pen, its possible that your atomizer has died. Try that atomizer on the other G Pen that came in the package, and see if it works. If not, we have replacement cartridges available.

A: Make sure your G Pen is fully charged, and the atomizer coil is fully seated and loaded properly (not overloaded).
A: The G Pen was designed for liquids and concentrates only, so loading aromatic blends will result in undesired results. Do not load aromatic blends in coils designed for liquids. Grenco Science makes coils for blends, please contact them for more information.
A: This is a natural situation with the G Pen. There are two fresh air intake holes on the sides of the G Pen atomizer cartridge. They are connected to small holes in the bottom of the crucible. When your solid concentrate melts, it may fill the holes located in the bottom of the crucible. When this liquid cools, it blocks the holes, so drawing is difficult.

This is easily remedied by heating up the G Pen for a short time, blocking one of the two holes on the side of the cartridge (they are in the silver band) and drawing. If warm enough, this should clear on one side, then repeat on the other side.

As you continue to use the G Pen, be mindful of this blockage potential. One trick to prevent it from happening is to continue to draw through through the G Pen once a minute as it is cooling. Once all the internals have cooled to room temperature, you can stop.
